Suicide Squad_Last Issue Cover

This was for the last issue cover and I got to draw Sgt. Rock as "Doc Savage" vs. Death !

The torn shirt was fun to do but the pants were tough..

just wish I had done a better job on the hand..
but..it was done start to finish in a day.

It's really a "love letter to all the unbelievable paperback covers by James Bama that I saw as a kid.

Sometimes a piece just tumbles out..and turns out better than expected...this one did for me..

I like artists that surprise me with their work and not those that rely on a formula...

That's why I think Mike Mignola's work is a complete BORE..
he could have been dead or retired for 10 years now and they could be just cutting & pasting his work together..
and nobody would know.

His work rarely surprises me..

or maybe I'm just upset that I picked up multiple copies of
Fafard and Grey Mouser..
and couldn't tell if I had them already...jeez.
